Wedding Day:  Planning & Coordination

• Wedding coordinator meets with couple
• Review the wedding day details
• Parish staff communicates clearly details around the Wedding rehearsal and ceremony.  

Mass or a Wedding Ceremony - Discuss the two liturgical options for celebrating the marriage:  the Rite of Marriage within Mass and the Rite of Marriage without Mass.  

The Wedding Liturgy - Discuss that the wedding is modeled on the Sunday Liturgy of the Parish, with the addition of the Rite of Marriage. 

Worship Aid (program) - Help provide a printed worship aid that encourages the active participation of those who are unfamiliar with the Catholic Liturgy.  

Lectors - Remind the couple to keep in mind that the person who fills this liturgical role should be a strong Christian that will be proclaiming the Word of God.

Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion - Remind the couple that family or friends who function as extraordinary ministers in their own parishes may fill this role during the wedding.  

The cost - The Catechism of the Catholic Church states that Sacraments are a gift and in no case should financial circumstances prevent a couple from approaching the Parish for marriage.
