Authentic evangelization-based planning demands an ongoing conversion of mind and heart because, as Pope Francis puts it,
“It is impossible to persevere in a fervent evangelization unless we are convinced from personal experience that it is not the same thing to have known Jesus as not to have known him, not the same thing to walk with him as to walk blindly, not the same thing to hear his word as not to know it, and not the same thing to contemplate him, to worship him, to find our peace in him, as not to” (Evangelii Gaudium, no. 266).
So profound is the conversion to which we are called that, if we open ourselves to it, it will result in nothing less than the transformation of our lives and the transformation of our parishes.
As Christian communities, we are devoted to building up the kingdom of God here on Earth so, naturally, every parish is engaged in tremendous ministry to this end. But there will always be limited resources of time, talent and treasure and a need to direct them to those efforts that will be most pleasing to God in fulfilling the Great Commission.
There also always will be shifting cultural and demographic phenomena to which we must respond. A parish strategic plan helps to ensure that the most impactful efforts are discerned, supported, and sustained.
Archdiocesan Parish Support team assists pastors and their parish leadership teams in all aspects of parish life. Rather than focusing on one area of expertise, the liaison(s) invest in getting to know and understand the dynamics and individual needs of the parish as a whole.
Archdiocesan parish liaisons assist parish staff and key leadership with any area of the parish’s priorities: For example adult, youth & child formation, Sunday worship, and outreach. This allows the priest, his staff, lay leadership, and volunteers the ease of working with a smaller responsive team, rather than having to contact and work with multiple Pastoral Center departments depending on the need.
