  • A WORK OF MERCY:   FOOD BOXES TO THOSE IN NEED

    • UPDATE - January 25, 2021

      Praise be Jesus Christ!

Starting this Wednesday, January 27th, participating parishes of the Archdiocese of Portland will begin the distribution rollout of quality produce, dairy and meats to the most vulnerable among us.

Please reference the distribution schedule on this webpage and
contact the parish directly for details about the exact distribution times. Unfortunately, the allocation of food boxes has been substantially less than demand. Please refer to the network of Oregon Food Banks for additional locations.

As this COVID -19 pandemic continues in these winter months, let us continue to pray for all Oregonians that struggle to meet basic food security.

      Blessings,
The Archdiocese of Portland Food Box Team

    • Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Who may receive a free USDA Food Box?
There is no requirement to prove need. Households that have experienced disruption of food intake or supply patterns because of lack of resources, and are in need of the food, are welcome. The food is for personal use and are not to be sold, traded or given away.

How long will this program last?
This USDA Food Box program phase five is funded until the end of April. It ensures that the under and unemployed, and the most vulnerable, do not have a barrier to fresh food.

What are the contents of a USDA Food Box?
A USDA food box is a combination of a variety of produce/fruits, dairy product, fluid milk, and precooked meat. There are no substitutes or returns allowed.

Where do I pick up a USDA Food Box for my family?
Simply find the closest Public Distribution location. No appointment necessary. Please check distribution times listed for each location. Quantities are limited, so arrive early.

Can I have food delivered to my home since I am homebound or without transportation?
Contact the closest participating location to inquire about delivery for those who are not able to pick up due to medical conditions, lack of transportation or isolation.

What safety precautions are in place?
Drivers are asked to remain in their vehicle as Food Boxes are placed in the trunk. Drivers and volunteers wear a face mask and maintain physical distancing in accordance with CDC best practices.
